For the next four meetings on our second Sundays we are planning to look at the “I am” sayings of Jesus in John’s gospel, and their contexts.
The first one we will be looking at is “I am the bread of life” John 6: 35-36.
The context is the miracle of the feeding of the 5 thousand and the discussion that follows. You can find this in John 6:1-15, and the further discussion in John 6: 35-40.
Think about bread, the types you like, what pleasure it gives.
What do we think bread signifies in this story?
What sorts of hunger do you think Jesus is referring to?
In what ways have you continued to hunger and continued to find satisfaction: has that journey taken different forms at different times?
